Scholarship Opportunity
The Massachusetts Flower Growers' Association will sponsor a scholarship award of up to $4000.00 depending on length of study.
Eligibility
- Applicant must major in a course of study in Floriculture, Horticulture or related agricultural sciences.
- Applicant must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a minimum of one year prior to submitting an application.
- Completed applications must be submitted by May 15th of the year to be awarded.
Award
- Payment of $1,000.00 annually to be made following receipt of transcripts depending on duration of scholarship.
- One year, two year, three year or four year students will be awarded scholarships proportionately to the number of semesters successfully completed; that is, a one year scholarship or two semesters equals $1,000.00; a two year scholarship equals $2,000.00; a three year scholarship equals $3,000.00; and a four year scholarship equals $4,000.00 to a possible maximum of $4,000.00.
- Payment will be made to the college in the name of the successful applicant. Succeeding payments will be made upon receipt of a transcript from college at the end of each semester. Applicant is responsible for having transcript forwarded to the Massachusetts Flower Growers' Association Scholarship Committee.
Termination
- If applicant does not complete required semesters.
- If applicant discontinues a course of study in the field of floriculture, horticulture or related sciences as determined by the Massachusetts Flower Growers’ Association Scholarship Committee
- If applicant does not achieve a 2.5 point grade average or better.
The Massachusetts Flower Growers' Association reserves all rights to make final interpretations to all questions concerning applications, goals, colleges, courses of study and any problems pertaining to this scholarship.
Scholarships will be dependent upon available funds.
The Massachusetts Flower Growers' Association Scholarship Committee will only accept the official application form as enclosed or one received via electronic mail. Guidance Directors may copy the enclosed application form as needed.
The successful applicant will be notified by July 15.

spirit
but
may
need
a
little
extra
effort
to
package
them
together
and
create
more
awareness.
Participants
in
Canadas
Communities
in
Bloom
have
found
its
best
to
take
a
good
look
at
what
you
have
and
build
on
it
with
a
new
idea
each
year.
The
key
is
to
keep
the
program
manageable
and
focused
for
community
volunteers
and
not
take
on
too
much.
This
also
helps
communities
with
limited
funding
and
resources
to
prioritize
projects.
America
in
Blooms
Objectives
are:
To
improve
the
visual
appeal
of
Americas
neighborhoods,
parks,
open
spaces
and
streets
through
the
imaginative
use
of
flowers,
plants
and
trees.
To
encourage
involvement
and
co-ordinated
action
by
citizens
of
all
ages,
municipal
governments,
local
organizations
and
businesses.
To
emphasize
environmental
awareness
and
preservation
of
heritage
and
culture
as
key
parts
of
the
program.
More
Than
Just
A
Beauty
Contest
America
in
Bloom
is
more
than
just
a
beauty
contest.
Specially
trained,
qualified
judges
volunteer
their
time
to
travel
across
the
country
during
the
summer
to
evaluate
participating
communities.
Why
Should
a
Grower
Get
Active?
It
will
generate
more
business.
A
community
that
is
involved
in
A.I.B.
uses
more
plant
material
and
will
likely
keep
its
displays
fresh
all
summer
resulting
in
more
late
season
sales.
An
additional
benefit
comes
as
homeowners
see
community
plantings
and
do
more
to
make
their
own
home
landscapes
a
part
of
the
community
effort.
Your
retail
business
will
become
the
place
to
go
for
supplies,
and
as
a
wholesale
grower
you
will
benefit
by
supplying
the
retailers.
A
good
effort
now
will
pay
dividends
for
years
to
come.
The
contest
draws
attention
to
the
grower
and
his/her
business.
This
is
will
be
good
for
your
business,
your
standing
in
the
community
and
the
industry
overall.
The
Time
Is

In
Bloom
The
Massachusetts
Flower
Growers
Association
is
encouraging
its
members
to
organize
efforts
in
their
communities.
This
is
the
time
to
start
the
process
for
the
spring
of
2004.
If
you
think
your
city
or
town
would
be
a
good
candidate
for
participation
in
American
In
Bloom,
you
should
begin
by
talking
with
local
officials.
Working
with
local
business
organizations
or
gardens
clubs
may
also
be
a
good
first
step.
MFGA
is
also
a
great
resource
as
members
have
already
initiated
programs
in
their
communities
and
will
share
their
experiences.
You
dont
have
to
be
part
of
a
large
city
with
large
budget.
All
you
need
is
a
little
leadership.
