Come join us for our MFGA Summer educational program at J.P. Bartlett and then to the Trial Garden at Cavicchio Greenhouses. We will have a morning program at J.P. Bartlett that will include a pest management update by Rick Yates, GGSPro Technical Services Manager, and a discussion on downy mildew by Angela Madeiras, Pathologist, UMass Plant Diagnostic Lab.

10:00–11:00 AM Downy Mildew and How to Manage It—1 Recertification Credit
Dr. Angela Madeiras, Extension Educator and Diagnostician, UMASS Plant Diagnostic Lab.
Downy mildew is caused by pathogenic water molds and can cause major damage in the greenhouse and landscape. Angie will discuss the symptoms and signs of downy mildew and how to manage it.
11:00 AM–12:00 PM Insects and Mites Pest Management Update—1 Recertification Credit
Rick Yates, Technical Support Manager, Griffins Greenhouse Supply.
Rick will cover the most troubling insect and mite pests of greenhouse crops (including this spring’s runaway aphid populations), and include a discussion of pesticide resistance, and how to push back against it.
12:00—1:00 PM Lunch at J.P. Bartlett—provided with registration

1:15–2:30 PM 2024 Annual Trials: Kerri Stafford, Cavicchio Greenhouses
We will tour the annual trial gardens at Cavicchio Greenhouses and see the new introductions for 2024 from many companies. This will give you a good look at the new varieties and how they perform to help you try them in 2024.
