UMass Floriculture Extension is offering this one day virtual program which will offer 3 Pesticide credits!
Join us via GoToWebinar on January 29, 2021 from 8:30am to 12pm for a virtual education program that will provide you with updates and tips for managing pests in spring greenhouse crops. This program will be held as a live webinar from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm. The agenda will feature three presentations, with fifteen-minute breaks in between.
Three pesticide credits in categories 26, 29, 31 and 000 have been approved for this program.

8:30 am – 9:30 am: Pesky Pythium: How to Steer Clear with your Spring Greenhouse Crops Dr. Angela Madeiras, Pathologist, UMass Extension
Pythium is one of the most common root disease of greenhouse crops. This presentation will discuss biology, disease cycle, and cultural and chemical control of Pythium in spring greenhouse crops.
9:45 am – 10:45 am: Pest Management Update: Insect News to Use for Spring Plant Production Dan Gilrein, Entomologist, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Suffolk County
This presentation will provide updates and helpful information on pests and pest management for 2021 production. With prospects again looking good for 2021, Dan will review some of the news on insect and mite controls, invasive pests, and issues growers had in 2020 such as broad mite and aphids.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Using biopesticides to manage greenhouse pests Dr. Michael Brownbridge, BioWorks Inc.
Biopesticides are products that are biological in origin and are used to control pests. This presentation will discuss timing, efficacy and compatibility of biopesticides with biological control agents.
